However, for the use cases that they were designed for, they can of course be very powerful.

Additionally, telco BSS/OSS software for Product Catalog, Billing and “CRM” is available on the market. Some examples of this are the solutions by Amdocs, Netcracker, Ericsson, and Huawei. They provide advanced telco-specific software that can be used for your BSS/OSS, but are not focused on telco commerce. This means they don't provide customer-first channel functionalities, and don't focus on this specific domain.

As well, there is advanced enterprise commerce software, which are solutions by the likes of Shopify, Commercetools, and Adobe Commerce. These solutions are great to use for general commerce and widely used on other industries, but were not built for the telecom industry. They were not designed with the complexity of telecom products and user flows in mind. This means they’re missing key telco features and knowledge, like telco-specific KYC, number porting, and a commercial product catalog that combines products into bundles.
